‘Kia Hāpai, Kia Ngāwari’

Kia Ngāwari shoot.

Kia Hāpai, Kia Ngāwari

To raise up, to be kind

TKP was given these kupu by our uncle Wayne. For me, this means more than Raising Kind Humans, this means encouraging all people from all generations to grow in kindness. No matter what stage you are in life, who you surround yourself with, or how busy you get, always remember to be kind and encourage kindness.

The other day we were driving over to my parents whare and noticed their neighbours were moving in. We quickly rounded up our whānau and went to help. For us, this meant at most 10 minutes of moving some boxes, but for them, it saved almost an hour of unloading, and it very quickly made them feel welcome in their new neighbourhood. This is what kindness looks like.

The translation being in te reo provides a much deeper meaning because te reo Māori is such a deep language. It isn’t just the translation of Raise Kind Humans. It is to raise up, lifting whomever it may be up and encouraging them to be kind.

Kia hāpai Kia Ngāwari is another visual reminder to be kind and raise kind humans.

The more reminders spread = the more kindness given
